Love, Love: Let's Show Salem Tennis a Lot of It!
Tennis at Salem has a rich history. Champions have reigned on our courts.
But recently, Salem's hard courts have fallen on hard times, as our video above makes clear.
The exciting news is that we have a beautifully designed plan for a new tennis facility for Salem. And you can help make our dream of fully funding a new facility a reality.
Once the existing courts and fencing are demolished, a new site drainage system will be installed. Then, twelve new tennis courts with state-of-the-art surfacing will be constructed on a new base, including a sub base of gravel and asphalt. Next, new posts, nets, vinyl-coated fencing, and windscreens will be added. The facility will also feature new aluminum bleachers, benches, hydration stations, a crosswalk with two entry gateways, and a new site sign.
Salem’s new tennis venue, which has been named through a gift from an anonymous donor, will honor Salem College professor Norbert F. “Bert” Lain in recognition of his lifelong support of women’s education, including the education that takes place on athletic courts and fields.
The total cost of this project is $800,000. Great naming opportunities are still available. And our alumnae and friends are already stepping up with generous gifts.
Please know that a donation of any size is most welcome. No gift is too small.
With your help, it'll be game, set, match.
